  Forest Co2 flux has become a hot issue and larch forest ecosystems in the northern hemisphere are very suitable for this study。Larch(Larix gmelinii)forests broadly distributed in Northeast China are important parts of global larch rofests。Their runction in the global warning process needs to be elucidated。This book is a conspectus of four years(2001-2004)study of a larch plantation at Laoshan station,Experimental Forestry Farm of Northeast Forestry University。Functions of dominant canopy heterogeneous shoots and understory shrubs and grasses,respiratory CO2 efflux form elaves,stem,branch,come and different elements of soil(soil microbes,litters and roots) were measured in a long-term monitoring and the inter-species diffe=erence of soil and stem respiration between larch and accompanying species of birchm,mandshurica ashm,Korean pine and Scots pine were also emphasized。On this data base,larch biomass and productivity as well as gas exchange data from eddy covariance method were analyzed to estimate the carbon sink capacity of the larch plantation。11 chapters are included in this book。It will be a reference ofr studying carbon balance of forest ecosystems by methods of gas exchanges,biomass summation and tower monitoring by eddy covariance method。Researchers and graduates focusing on forest ecology,tree ecophysiology and global warming well be the audience of this book。
